Dr. Martens

Combining function with style, Dr. Martens footwear is famous for its durability and comfort. The origin of this iconic brand is a story of tradition and innovation. In 1901, the Griggs family began crafting durable, reliable work boots in the English Midlands. Then, in 1945, Dr. Klaus Maertens invented a unique air-cushioned sole, an upgrade from the typical hard leather sole. When Maertens advertised his invention a few years later in a footwear magazine, the Griggs’ family took notice. The company acquired an exclusive license and got to work making the eight-holed 1460 Dr. Martens boot, known for its bulbous upper and distinctive yellow welt stitch that is still popular today. While many things have changed over the decades since the company opened, this has remained constant: Dr. Marten’s is trusted by hard workers everywhere.
