Gerber LST Folding Knife

Now here's a knife with some mighty impressive roots. It was brought to market back in 1980 by none other than the man whose last name goes on each of our products. Pete Gerber was the first knife creator to envision the merits of using all-synthetic materials in the handle. He and knife designer Blackie Collins aimed to deliver lightweight performance that had not been seen before in a knife this all-out rugged.

The Gerber L.S.T. is the smoothest of operators. With a mechanical action that just feels good and satisfying when you open and close the blade, which happens to be made of 400 series stainless steel.

But lets get back to the topic of lightweight performance. The heaviest of the four legendary L.S.T. models musters a mere 1.2 ounces on the scales. Yet, when you feel that easy grip, there's no question that Pete Gerber's big idea is one for the ages.

Teaching Wilderness Survival, I put a pocket knife through so much use and abuse that they're worn out in under a year. So over the last forty years I've bought a lot of pocket knives, but for the last seventeen of them, this is the one I've bought over and over again. It's light, thin and small enough to make it easy to carry, yet large enough for most task. It sharpens easily, holds an edge well, and it can be opened or closed with just one hand. It's a very tough little knife but it can be broken. (Especially when using it as a shovel or a pry bar) In which case, the price makes it affordable to replace.

I love this little jewel . I had one with the camo handle back during the 80's and early 90's then I lost it . I'n glad to now have replaced it . sharp, easy to carry in the pocket, and I like so much I bought two similar knives, the US1, one for my daughter and the other to keep. Thanks a lot Gerber for a fine pocket knife . After all these years I'm happy to have an LST back in my pocket . Five stars !

I really enjoyed this knife and I expected GREAT quality from Gerber, because I own and used many of their products. But the plastic housing does not bode well with the metal studs/rivets. The plastic housing broke which left the knife inoperable after a few months. Though it's not very expensive I expected a higher level of quality from Gerber and Tactical Gear. But you only get what you pay for...

I really like that pocket knife. Gerber makes first class products. It should last me a long time. It's very lite weight. I wish they even made one a little bit smaller. Really good knife.

The Gerber LST was my knife of choice for EDC for a long time. It is light, so it won't wear a hole in your pocket, takes a great edge, and holds it well. Easy to sharpen too. It is not a pry-bar or screwdriver. You can chip or even break the blade. You shouldn't do things like that with your knife but people do anyway. I used to deer hunt a lot and I must have skinned and boned out 15 deer at least with this as my only tool. No bells or whistles on this one just a light, sharp, simple knife. I have three - red, orange, black.
