    McRae Industrial collage Best known for its combat footwear, McRae Industries actually got its start in 1959 by making kid's shoes for work and play. Then in 1965 the focus shifted to serve the military industry. Two years later McRae won its first military contract by the Department of Defense and its olive drab jungle boots were soon seen on the battlefield of Vietnam.     • 1 out of 5 I always wear wide. I ordered two pair. One wide and one normal width. I had never worn the McRae before so I didn't know which width would fit. After receiving them the wide was soooo wide. The normal was wide too but not as bad as the wide. My foot swims in the normal width. Plus, the heel pocket is poorly fitted. There is no heel pocket so my heel moves up and down in the boot when I'm walking. Fine on length.
