Men's Thorogood 6" American Heritage Moc Toe Wedge

Great looks and performance. Had to wear heel bandages the first few days, but after that, they were like wearing an old pair except for the joint on my left big toe seemed to take longer to break in because the stitching seemed to be right on the joint. I'm willing to wait for the break-in period because I really like the way they feel. I know it will get better and they have already. Week 1.

I came across Thorogood in a review written for a pair of Red Wings and did a little due diligence. All the reviews rave about these boots...every single model. The close up photos say to you...comfortable and quality. The price says...buy me. I received them today and examined closely to find the only blemish was a slightly misplaced hook eyelet...nothing to make an issue. They are exceeding well constructed of top notch leather and the insole is even a step above what you will normally find in most boots. The sole is stitched and sealed perfectly to the boot...even the laces are evenly spaced in the first eyelets. Obviously quality control is important to this manufacturer. None of this is surprising given what I had seen on the interwebs about Thorogood...the surprise comes when you slip them on and they feel like you have worn them for a year. I ordered a half size down from what I normally wear...9.5D from a 10D...as most warned of these running large. I put them on with a substantial pair of socks and have not taken them off for the last 5 hours. I cut up tree branches and mowed grass in them, walking, with not even a slight rub anywhere on either foot. It is like this pair was built on a last molded on each of my own feet. I can tell they will stretch that needed skosh across the ball and joint of the toes as I wear them...probably constantly wear them at this rate. Perfect fit...I could not be happier...and at less than half the price of Red Wings...I'm going to tell everyone I know about this deal.

I've always been a sucker for the classic Red Wing 1907 Moc Toe Boot. To be honest, I don't even need these boots--I have a sedentary job and I keep a pair of Vasque Sundowner hiking boots for hiking, which double nicely as work boots around the yard. But still, every time I would see a pair of those Red Wings, with all that gorgeous full-grain, triple-stitched, made-in-the-USA leather goodness, I would purpose in my heart to have a pair of my very own. Typically, I would get as far as typing in my credit card info before guilty feelings over the $240 price tag would cause me to reluctantly remove the 1907s from my cart and go sulk in front of the TV. This time however, while searching for the Red Wings, I came across Thorogood Men's American Heritage 6" Moc Toe Boot. Welt construction? Check. Triple-stitched, full-grain leather? Check. Made in the good old USA? Check. That classic white sole? Check. My heart leapt when I saw the $120 price. Was it possible? Although the Thorogoods in the Tobacco Gladiator color certainly looked as handsome as the Red Wings in the pictures, a nagging doubt entered my mind. Surely they would break my heart by being the same odd orange color one sees on the Chinese knockoffs. Or they would be poorly sewn. Or fit badly. Nevertheless, driven by desperation and buoyed by Amazon's liberal return policies and the thought of saving $120 dollars, I pulled the trigger. When the boots arrived, I couldn't have been more pleased. My wife swears that she saw a single tear of joy roll down my cheek when I opened the box and gazed upon them for the first time. The fit is fantastic, the quality superb and the price amazing. I was surprised that they aren't as clunky as my hiking boots and they're very well cushioned. And the leather...well, it's just beautiful. Highly recommended!

As I enter my 20s, I am expanding my wardrobe to be ore than plain sneakers. I'd been looking into a good pair of boots for a long time. I wanted them to work in tough conditions (rain, snow) and in a regular setting. I found these featured on a blog and was lured in by the Made in America construction and unbeatable price. With a little better marketing and press, Thorogood could easily compete with Red Wing on a larger scale. 3 months in, these boots are working fantastic, I've worn them out in the snow and rain and around downtown L.A. and they work equally well. With consistent care, these'll last a lifetime I'm sure. Be sure to get some thick wool socks to wear with em though!

Just received these to replace two pair of Red Wing boots that the soles were falling off (glued on soles). These are work boots. They have the Vibram stitched soles which I prefer. For work boots the leather and soles are just right. With a too soft a sole you feel everything you step on. These look like they are made to last. Glad I tried Thorogood, compared to other work boots these feel like slippers.

These are handsome well made boots. I prefer the color and construction over my second boot choice (Timberland) and I really wanted to keep them, but the soles are stiff as a board. When walking in these boots, the back rose up and rubbed my heel - ouch!

this boot is a great looking high quality piece of American workmanship that i am proud to own. the fit is fairly true and the boot is comfortable enough to stand in all day.
